Rings…
I just realized something… with my Fitbit dead and me moving over to Apple Watch, using steps for tracking my monthly fitness goal isn’t really as logical.
That’s not to say that Apple Watch doesn’t track your steps. It does. But steps are not the priority on an Apple Watch. Rings are. And there are three rings… red Move, green Exercise, and blue Stand.
Before, I was looking at my Fitbit history and counting my days where I hit my step goal. Then I added in days where I trekked to the gym. In the spirit of full disclosure, there are times when step goals and gym trips overlapped. And I may have still counted them as individual goal achievements because I wasn’t particularly good at keeping track of what days I was at the gym.
But with Rings, I have the Move ring measuring calories burned to make sure I’m active, the Exercise ring to make sure I do higher intensity activity for a minimum amount of time, and the Stand ring to make sure I’m not sitting on my butt all day at my desk. Already, I’ve used my standing desk more in the last two weeks than in the previous six months.
So, yeah, it’s time to change up that goal measure. Having a calendar view is also going to make it easier to share the proof with all of you.
That green ring is gonna make my life tough, isn’t it?
The Rings are it. The king of all that is fitness tracking. During the warmer months, I do my best to try and close them out daily. And the many views of progress is one of my favorite parts of the Apple Watch.

The many views are nice. I need to keep playing around in there.
