Us…

There was a point in time when I collected Funko POP vinyl statues/figures. I didn’t have a ton but what I had, I displayed in my office at work back when I had to report to a physical workplace.

When I left that job, I sold off most of my collection knowing I had no place to display them at home nor would I in my new cubicle.

Nate is the POP collector now and has a ton. And there are several I had that he wishes I kept. But I digress.

Once in a great while, I’ll pick up a POP. It’s gotta be something really special, though. Maybe a favorite character or movie or athlete or just something with a really unique look.

This one might just constitute that “something really special.”

They nailed the look of Lupita Nyong’o from the poster for Jordan Peele’s Us.

Admittedly, Us was a weird movie. The first half was great and exactly what I wanted it to be. But that second half? That was bonkers and I never even came close to fathoming it as part of the plot.

But Lupita? Love her. She’s so good in this movie (and 12 Years a Slave and Quiet Place: Day One) and I’m a fan. So I kinda dig this POP for those reasons.

I pray the placement of these containers on Nate’s dresser is purely coincidental. But, yanno, he is 12 years old and juvenile potty humor is nothing new to him. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

I still have a few Funko Pops here.

I really liked Quiet Place: Day One.
