20 Years…

When we first moved into our townhouse, it was part of a five year plan. As in, within that five years, we planned to move into a single family house.

Life, as you know, happened. Grad school for Katie, employment instability, having a kid, global pandemic, housing prices shooting through the roof, interest rates being complete suckage, etc.

That five-year plan has, as of today, become a 20-year plan. Yeah, somehow or another, two decades have flown by and we’re still in our townhouse. Well, it’s more of a townhome by now.

Don’t get me wrong, we love our home but it has limitations. Mostly in terms of space. We have two bedrooms for three people and I work from home meaning I have no office. We don’t have a basement. We have 20 years of stuff that has collected and desperately needs to be sorted through with, hopefully, a vast amount being gotten rid of. Those sorts of limitations.

We’ll get there. Ideally before we reach another 20 year mark.

That is a long time in one home. The longest I have spent in one place is 17 years.

Really? Only 17?

Marty Mankins

Yeah. I was with my now ex wife at the house we shared for 17 years before she sold it and we moved.
