Guttenberg

Do you remember Steve Guttenberg? Carey Mahoney from the Police Academy series of films. Three Men and a Baby/Little Lady. Short Circuit. Cocoon. Diner. From 1982 to 1990, you couldn’t escape the dude.

Then he just kinda disappeared. Or at least he did for me. I never really saw him again save for guest appearances in The Goldbergs and Schooled. Maybe others but I don’t recall them. So basically nothing.

Last week, he suddenly cropped up again in news reports about the Los Angeles wildfires where he was talking about his neighbors’ houses going up in flames and helping firefighters by moving abandoned cars. The reporter had no idea who he was at first. The footage was replayed over and over again. It was pretty cool to see. Complete with AirPod.

And then, tonight he showed up in the latest episode of High Potential, one of my favorite shows of 2024.

Makes me wonder how much more we’ll see of him. I’m game for it.

Heh, yeah I saw this video and laughed when the reporter goes "and your name sir?". Good for Steve Guttenberg though.

I think he followed it up with “aren’t you an actor?” Which made it worse.
