Honor
I was digging through Nate’s backpack tonight trying to find the charger for his laptop and found a bunch of paperwork crushed up in the bottom. Amongst that paperwork was a small, sealed, manilla envelope with a label that read “To the parents of Nathan Apgar.”
Ruh-roh.
My internal alerts were immediately at DEFCON 1. Happily, though, I opened it and the letter inside stated that Nate had made it on his school’s Honor Roll for his first trimester! And the envelope contained a small certificate honoring the achievement.
[not the actual certificate]
That’s great news!
But, for context, it’s now January 11. His first trimester ended at the end of November. This envelope has been lost in the abyss that is his backpack for at least a month assuming we give the school a week or so of padding after the end of the trimester to figure out final grades and who makes the cut and print up certificates and notification letters.
He told us he’d been wondering how his friends knew they were on the Honor Roll and he never heard about himself. And now we know.
So he gets honors for his grades… just not his personal organization.
