It’s time for yet another round of Stupid Scammers Being Stupid at Scamming.
This gem was received via text message yesterday and is so chock full of garbage that should be obvious red flags for even the dumbest recipient that it’s just crazy.
Here’s everything I see wrong with it…
- It was sent from the +62 country code, which is the Philippines. What kind of authority do they have on US driver’s licenses? None.
- FastTrak? What is that? Spelled like that, it’s not a valid tolling system anywhere in the United States. San Francisco has Fastrak with one T.
- My payment was supposed to be due the same day I received the message. At 3:45 p.m. Not a lot of time.
- I guess fasttrak.com wasn’t available for FastTrak.
- How is a link in a message activated by leaving and coming back to the message? Have they never used SMS before??
- To “keep my license”? Not paying tolls can result in license cancellation? Mmmm… not in Illinois.
Aaaaaaannnndddd… you’re welcome.

I get these, block the number, and delete them. In iOS, I'm always unsure what "Delete and Report Junk" actually does? I mean it says it sends it to my carrier and to Apple. But do they actually do anything with that info?

They just use more phone numbers. It’s never ending even if Apple and carriers do something with the reports.
