Badlands
A few years ago, Hulu released Prey, a prequel to all the original four Predator and two Alien v Predator films.
Set in 1719 in the Northern Great Plains, Prey stars Amber Midthunder as Naru, a young female Comanche who longs to be treated as one of the male warriors in her tribe. When a strange creature lands on earth and starts hunting and killing her tribemates and the French hunters and trappers in the area, she decides to prove herself by hunting the hunter.
The movie was absolutely brilliant. Midthunder was awesome and writer/director Dan Trachtenberg quickly climbed the ladder of fame.
Trachtenberg is returning this November with Predator: Badlands.
I’m not certain of the time when it’s set other than “future” but it appears to be on the Yautja home planet. And it doesnt matter because it looks like complete badassery!
I have a complicated relationship with this franchise. I worship Predator, was lukewarm with Predator 2, loved Predators, hated The Predator, enjoyed Alien v Predator, and loathed AvP: Requiem. So this could suck as easily as it could rock, but I’m holding out hope Trachtenberg will bring it like he did with Prey.
Bring it, Dan!
