Nate and I were at Target today and left the store to return to our car. Parked right next to us was a pickup truck that was being loaded with purchases by a woman who had a shopping cart with a kid in it.
She had the cart mostly behind her truck but hanging into the lane between our cars and close enough that me backing out could be a danger. And there were cars in front of me preventing me from pulling through.
She saw us and she kept loading. No effort to move the cart.
We got in our car and she kept loading. No effort to move the cart.
I started the engine of my car and she kept loading. No effort to move the cart.
I put my foot on the brake pedal to light it up in back so she could see it and she kept loading. No effort to move the cart. In fact, she came around to the side facing my car and opened her side door to load stuff in there. Open defiance.
I put my car in reverse without actually moving and she finally moved the cart. This episode transcended more than three minutes.
What kind of ignorant idiot do you have to be to “make a point” that would endanger your kid’s life?
Where has common sense and courtesy gone in this world?
