Simpsons40
Wow. The Simpsons was picked up for another four seasons to carry it through year 40! You gotta be kidding me.
I have liked the show in the past. I won’t lie. But that fandom ended after about season seven or eight.
I was collecting the DVD season box sets as they were released in the early 00’s to catch up on some of it and relive what I enjoyed. That is until they changed out the shelf friendly cardboard sleeve packaging with the god awful three dimensional plastic head boxes.
I would continue to watch the occasional televised episode here and there after that. Usually the “Treehouse of Horror” episode or ones that friends or reviewers swore were “can’t miss TV.” All of that has since ended as well.
As of right now, I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen a new episode in about a decade.
There’s no love lost on my part. When it was good, it was really good. But when that stopped, it was not difficult to turn it off.
But now, even long-time fans and apologists are begging for it to end already.
This letter from a fan to Matt Groening was published in Consequence and it hits the nail on the head on many points. That and it’s just a cool read.
I know FOX TV is hurting in a big way. But taking slower swings of your hammer on that nail in the coffin is not what’s going to save your primetime broadcast schedule. End it already.
I am in the same place. It's been years since I've caught up with episodes. I might watch one here and there.

I’m trying to remember the last one I watched.
