Smallville

Yesterday, I took the day off to spend with Nate since he’s on spring break. We had to start with some errand running, but that was done pretty quickly so the rest of the day was ours. We did a little shopping and general running around like we do on our boys days.

Afterwards, we Google Mapped a toy/comic shop we’d never been to, or heard of, about half hour southwest of us in Plano, IL.

We got there and walked around and couldn’t find the shop anywhere. Where it was supposed to be was empty and had a building permit stuck to the window.

And this is why I hate business listings on the web… so many are never updated. Sure, I could’ve (and should’ve) called, but I didn’t.

There was a silver lining to this gray cloud, though. Right around the corner from where we were looking for the shop, we found the washed out evidence of a mural from when Man of Steel, the first Superman movie starring Henry Cavill, was filmed there and they turned Plano into Smallville, KS.

Despite neither of us having seen the film, this discovery was pretty cool. We do like finding movie sets.
