Martin

Of course when I see a headline that reads “George R.R. Martin Claps Back at Frustrated Fans: 'Some of You Will Be Pissed by This'” I’m gonna check it out. I have to.

Why? Because I’ve read the first five books in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series (better known as A Game of Thrones) and I, like millions of others have been waiting for book six for more than 15 years.

But I am convinced that it will never happen.

As stated in the article, I think he’s under so much pressure to get it done that he’s completely burned out on the idea. Plus he cannot figure out a logical way to bring everything and everyone back together to give it an ending that will make even a small percentage of the fandom happy.

Honestly, even if he did finish book six, and seven after it, it’s been so long since I’ve read it or even remotely cared about it, that I probably wouldn’t read it. I liked the first five books but I have zero desire to re-read them to get back in the zone. Too many books in this world and in my TBR stack to go back and read 4,197 pages again.

Another month of goals is in the books! And I’d say I did pretty decently. Let’s see if you agree… Music Play An awesome month of going above and beyond on this goal. I actually considered pulling one of them...

Hell. Yes. I can’t possibly expect it to be as good as the first one. Can I?

Yeah, this is about where I'm at with this as well. Even if he did finish it, and that's a big if, I don't remember all the ins and outs and who did what and when and with whom. And I'll be damned if I'm reading the entire series again. So where does that leave me? Read the new one and play a perpetual game of "who is this character and why are they acting like this?", or not bother reading it. Leaning toward the latter.

I've long since stopped caring about the books. The sloppy, crappy last season of GOT ruined the entire concept for me, and at this point I couldn't care less whether the final two novels are ever released. If they are, I'll read the Wikipedia plot summary to see if he made an ending that makes actual sense for the characters, and that will be good enough. I'm not wasting any more of my time with his nonsense. I feel like I've already wasted more than enough.

Safe bet.

Amen to all that. Never thought about just reading the synopsis online but I may do that too. Thanks for the idea!
