TIL: Madsen

Today I Learned: Michael and Virginia Madsen are brother and sister, not ex-spouses as I’d always thought with her keeping his last name like Susan after she divorced Chris Sarandon.

Today I Learned: Michael Madsen’s character of Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs has the real name of Vic Vega. Being part of the larger Tarantino-verse as it is, yes, Vic is brothers with Pulp Fiction’s Vincent Vega as played by John Travolta.

Today I Learned: Despite Madsen getting off to a rough start with Tarantino during casting of Reservoir Dogs, they did eventually get along to the point where the latter wanted to cast the former as Vincent Vega. However, Madsen was committed to Wyatt Earp so the role went to Travolta and brought his career back from the dead. I am curious how it would’ve been for Madsen to play brothers in two different films.

Why so many TILs about Michael Madsen? He died today at the age of 67. I won’t lie and say he was one of my favorite actors but I always knew if his name was in the cast, it was gonna be a fun ride.

Ears and Stealer’s Wheel… that’s all I’ve got to say about that one.

R.I.P. Mr. Madsen.
