Vacation recap: Saturday, November 9...

[text from my Moleskine vacation journal]

San Juan | Port of San Juan | Open Sea
We boarded the ship today. Kinda funny to see the expressions on Brian and Jen's faces as they saw a cruise ship up close for the first time. Got checked in almost immediately. Being there early has its perks. And we were here 7.5 hours prior to embarkation.

Sick day...

I'm at home with a sick little kid today.

We're not sure if it's a legitimate fever or a side effect of teething. Either way, he was sporting a 101 fever and was whining uncontrollably at random intervals throughout the night. He did not want to be let go at all. But when we held him, he would squirm to the point where you almost had to let him go.

Happy Mother's Day...

To my mom and my grandmas and to Katie's mom and grandmas, we would both like you all to know how important you are to us and how much we love you. Beyond words. I wish there was a better way to say it, but there isn't. Just know we love and appreciate you ridiculously.

The waiting is the hardest part...

I love it.

We just got home from our third family Christmas celebration. Our fourth, and thankfully final, is tomorrow. Katie is reading The Polar Express to Nathan for the 24th time this month. When he's down, we're going to watch what has become our annual Christmas movie, Love Actually.

And then we're going to bed.

Tomorrow we will wake up to spend our first Christmas as parents.

I seriously cannot wait.
