Because of the predicted snowmageddon, we decided to lay low and stay home all day. Basically, big plans to do absolutely nothing.
Vacations & Holidays 2015-19
Yesterday was all the sides. Today is the turkey!
When we host Thanksgiving at our place, Katie likes to get as much of it ready a day or so in advance as humanly possible. So she typically takes the day before the holiday (Thanksgiving Eve?) off to do just that. Since Nathan has the whole week off, that extra day is helpful in that regard as well.
I don’t know how we did it, but tonight was an absolutely perfect cool Fall night for trick-or-treating. And we had another good one last Saturday at my parents’ neighborhood for more trick-or-treating.
Happy 17th anniversary, hon! I love you with all my heart and can’t imagine my life without you.
Beer! Glorious beer! So golden, hoppy, and scrumptious!
Sorry, Apu. I meant to say "Slurpee." As in Free Slurpees! Why? It's 7-Eleven Day, y'all!!! Few finer holidays exist in this world!
Happy belated birthday, USA! 🇺🇸
Bummer. The fireworks we usually go to in Batavia, IL, we’re canceled tonight due to thunderstorms in the area. Actually, I should say they were rescheduled to tomorrow night (when there is an even greater chance of rain predicted).
In July, Katie, Nathan, and I are going to Wisconsin for vacation. Three days and two nights up in Christmas Mountain near the Dells.
With each year, I love her more and more even if she doesn’t understand why.
Happy Terran Valentine’s Day from your favorite Centauran space pirate o’ love!! Which one of the following best captures my exotic allure?
Yeah, we’re ready. I cannot guarantee we’ll survive, but we’re ready. I think. [Pictures below]
While I’m no longer the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything, I can handle these famous 43s...
By way of celebration of his actual birthday, how about a photo recap of Nathan's previous year?
It's official! For the first time since the summer of 2014, we are going on holiday... er, vacation! Sorry, Nathan watches a lot of British cartoons like Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom and Hey Duggee, so he calls it "holiday."
Happy 241st birthday, U.S.A.!
Happy Father's Day to my dad, my grandpa, my brother, and my father-in-law. I love you all and am eternally grateful for everything you have ever done and continue to do for us.
Before I get into the guts of this post, I have to wish a happy birthday to my mom who turns... I'll stop myself there. Happy birthday, mom!
Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies, grandmas, great-grandmas, and caregivers out there.
May the Fourth be with you!
Happy Easter to you and yours from me and mine (and a bunny)!
As Katie declared to me last night, “This is my week! My month! Celebrate me!!” So I suppose I should take a moment to explain why…
How about some holiday haikus for Valentine's Day?
We've got one last movie to see before I compile my movie list. The plan is to go tomorrow. I know that's 2017, but I'm game for the wait if you are.
I think I'm going to follow Claire's lead this year and start my own haiku tradition on Thanksgiving. Fun!
I can't believe I forgot to share with you all our themed Halloween costumes!
This morning, we did something I haven't done in several years... we carved a Jack o' Lantern!
On this day 15 years ago, Katie married me in front of all our family and friends.
It was a great day today. A train ride downtown. A walk to Shedd Aquarium. A visit to Buckingham Fountain. Cake and presents when we got home.
It wasn't until just now that I realized what tomorrow's date is... July 11! That means it will be 7-Eleven Day! Free Slurpees!
With your permission, I would like to share this public service announcement courtesy of the greatest American President of our generation President Thomas Whitmore.
It was a really good Father's Day.
As in, "it's my mom's xxth anniversary of her xxth birthday."
